Agewell at the Piccadilly Community Centre

Who we are.

‘Agewell in Piccadilly’ is an independent group of senior citizens, with many years experience of using the Internet and passing on our knowledge to friends, neighbours and members of the communities we live in. We will be running drop-in sessions, tasters, classes, workshops and other digital activities in the Piccadilly Community Centre computer room – filling in the gaps when it is not being used by other groups. Initially, it looks like that will be Wednesday mornings, Thursdays and Fridays – but that could change because the Community Centre has only just opened, and we haven’t had a chance to meet all the other participants.

Who you are.

Here is our definition of a senior citizen: somebody born and brought up in the pre-digital era – that’s most people over 50, but many others too – your date of birth is not important to us. If you think you have missed out, please join us so we can help you put it right. If you are already an Internet user, we will welcome you to our open drop-in sessions. If you are a beginner – we have some great ideas and resources which will start your Internet journey. It’s all free, of course!

Spring Online Week, 16 to 20 May 2011.

Spring Online Week is an alternative name for Silver Surfers’ Week – an annual national celebration of older people learning about and participating in the digital world of the 21st century, which we have actively supported for eight years.

We started our Spring Online celebrations early – on the same day that the Piccadilly Community Centre opened (Friday 13 May), with more on Saturday 14 MayWednesday 18 May, Thursday 19 May, and Friday 20 May.

Like everything else we do, our Spring Online Internet tasters are for all senior citizens.
